Wrap field trip

On our wrap field trip we went to Harrisonburg to look at the anommoeter go up at one of the elementary schools. After that we went to a warehouse that built the windmills. There we learned how they were assembled and what they are made of. It was interesting to see all of the different designs so that they could see wich windmill would get the most energy. I learned that the size of the windmill that we were going to put up was actually very small, so I don't understand why it was rejected.

Sex trafficking response

Sex trafficing has always irked me. It makes me upset to think that human beings can be so malicious. How desperate do you have to be to sell your own child for some pornography or alcohol? Do these people really love their children? Most mothers and fathers would die to save their children, and they would do anything to keep them safe. Do these parents feel remorse after they realized what they've dont to their child's life? It's not fair to the kids. They won't know how loved and treasured they are. These kids are precious just like any other, and they never deserved this kind of treatment. It hurts my heart knowing this is going on in other countries. If I had a child I would never let that happen. I would die before anyone put their hands on my kid. So what is going on in all the other parents heads?

Wrap question evolution

My question began with why can some people draw and others not? What makes people have that talent? Is it the eyes or the brain? After I found that it is in the brain. the message sent from the eyes to the brain prossesses different. then I narrowed my question down to is there a way to help people to draw? Can they be taught? I found out that people can be taught to draw, but they have to follow certain tests. After I found that out my question is now, will the series of chosen tests improve the ability to draw?

Wrap city code

The world is ready for an innovative way of getting energy. Some of those are wind, solar, and water. Waynesboro High School students have decided that waynesboro is ready to join this new way of getting energy. The world is running out of natural resources, like coal and oil. So what are we going to do if we run out? We would have to build an alternate energy source. But why wait till its to late? If we start being efficient now, it will save us money and prepare us for the future. The world is changing fast and we shouldn't get left behind. So what do you do if the code is preventing us from putting up an alternate energy source? You change the code. The code is old and not meant for these new changes.

Wintergirls sound track

Liz Thurston
1. Never To Late -- Three Days Grace
I chose this song because its about someone trying to commit suicide and there is someone trying to save them. This is the song that goes with my climax. In the book she cuts herself because she doesn't think she's skinny enough. But the last time she cuts herself she's trying to die. And her parents rush her to the hospital trying to save her life. No matter how many times she gets under 90 lbs, passes out, or cuts too deep her friends and family still try to keep her alive. So this song shows the love of friends and family going through a hard situation with a friend.
“Who wants to recover? It took me years to get that tiny. I wasn't sick; I was strong.”
― Laurie Halse Anderson, Wintergirls p.28

 2. The Last Night -- Skillet
I chose this song because its about the life of a girl who wants to kill herself, but at the same time doesn't. she struggles with wanting to live and wanting to die. There is always going to be someone to help her. It shows the love of her family and friends for her, but at the same time they chastise her and try and make her feel guilty.
“I want to go to sleep and not wake up, but I don't want to die. I want to eat like a normal person eats, but I need to see my bones or I will hate myself even more and I might cut my heart out or take every pill that was ever made.”
"Your body wants to live, Lia, even if your head doesn't"
― Laurie Halse Anderson, Wintergirls p.234

3. When She Cries -- Britt Nicole
This song represents the protagonist. In the book her family and everyone around her is blaming her for her best friends death. She feels alone and it's seems that nobody understands what she is going through. It's a rough time, but she wants to live. She wants the want to stop somewhere in her. But the habit of anorexia is 20 times stronger.
“You’re not dead, but you’re not alive, either. You’re a wintergirl, Lia-Lia, caught in between the worlds. You’re a ghost with a beating heart. Soon you’ll cross the border and be with me. I’m so stoked. I miss you wicked.”
― Laurie Halse Anderson, Wintergirls p.195-196

4. Melting (Interlude) -- Flyleaf
I chose this song to be my theme. The song sounds like complete chaos. It represents her life. She is going down a downward spiral so fast she cant stop, but the thing is she doesn't want to stop. Everything is a mess with her. Her eating disorder effects everyone who loves her and her thinking abilities.
“The number doesn't matter. If I got down to 070.00, I'd want to be 065.00. If I weight 010.00, I wouldn't be happy until I got down to 005.00. The only number that would ever be enough is 0. Zero pounds, zero life, size zero, double-zero, zero point. Zero in tennis is love. I finally get it.”
― Laurie Halse Anderson, Wintergirls p.220

5. Dead Flowers -- Demon Hunter
I chose this song be because it represents the loss of a love one. In the book the main characters best friend dies. They have a deadly contest to see who can be the thinnest. When they both take it too far, one of them suffers alone and passes away. She has to live her life without her best friend. Now that the game is over, she is stuck in her bad habits. She feels haunted by her deceased bestie and can't get away from feeling guilty for it.

The final eight minutes march past in silent formation until the timer on her desk dings. "So, can I go to the funeral?" I ask. She reaches for her shoes. "Do you understand why you want to go to the funeral?" To make sure they bury her in concrete so she'll leave me alone. "I feel that I need some closure about this. " "And the funeral will provide that? Yes, that's what I just said. "I've given it a lot of thought." The clock ticks by two bonus minutes. I roll the hair of strangers into a ball. "It's a good idea." She slips her shoes on and stands up. "But have one of your parents go with you. Nobody should ever go to a funeral alone."
― Laurie Halse Anderson, Wintergirls p. 118

mr. tylers blog

the math of sports and games is a great class. its unlike any math class that ive ever been in. when we first started this class i really didnt know what to expect. so its not like i had any expectations for it, because it didnt know how it was goin to work. the only thing i dont really like is sometimes not getting enough help when i need it. but thats understandable considering there is 17 of us and only 1 teacher. the topic is intersting but doesnt interest me. its not something that i really would want to purse with my life, but its cool to understand how to do the things that we are learnig. the class has showed me how we really use math in the real world that effects something so big as sports (which almost everyone in the country cares about). i would never have thought to do that or even researched it. the difference between past math classes and this one is,1. we are actually learning something that i dont think is stupid. 2. it has a point and a purpose. and 3. its way more fun.

Wrap article

Questions 1.Based on the results presented, do you agree or disagree with the study's accuracy? Yes, I think that it is correct. These kids might ave dealt with rejection, but being bullied and teased is in every case and the most primary. 2.What other questions would you explore, if possible? I would study their childhood. We're they raised like this? Or born this way? 3.What does this study tell you about our own school? It tells those people who tease and bully others that they better watch what they say. They think its cool or funny to bully people but if this happened to our school they could be a main target and end up getting others hurt.

Controversy

Onece apon a time there was a small town. They had a very small population, and you could actually let your kids play on the streets with worry that they might be stalked or abducted. They had a few small family owned businesses and were proud do sell only American made products. But, there was one year that changed everything. Hotels and walmarts were being built. And the the public beaches for the locals became for customers only. They had some storms that demolished the beaches. So the city brought in some work-force help--- illegal aliens. They kept comming and comming. The city was being overpowered by men and women who didn't have to pay taxes. They were getting the citizens job and living off of their taxes. It kept going on a downward spiral. The citizens felt like they lost their cute little town and it was never comming back. How is this fair? How can that be right? To bring in people who are illegal, who don't have to pay taxes, and take the citizens jobs, it shouldn't have happened. 99% of the population now only speaks Spanish. Now I'm not saying that culturization is bad, but taking over a city like that was wrong. The citizens felt pushed out of their homes by their own country, and it made them angry. This is happening all over the country " under the table". If the problem isn't fixed it could get out of hand.

The root of evil

So, are people born evil? Or are they made that way?the things that people do and are capable of, is sickening sometimes. What is going through their heads in the moment of evilness? These are things that most people would like to know. Why are children abducted, girls raped, and wives beat to death? How can a human being loose all feeling of guilt and continue to complete these actions. Is it to fill an inner void? And if so, what created a void like this, and why does it need to be filled with evil?

Modern lit.

10 smartphone habits you should avoid By Andrea Bartz and Brenna Ehrlich Being really, really scared to use the phone It's so easy now with our technology to just text someone in one second. Since its much faster and easier to talk to people rather than picking up the phone and talking, people can be scared to talk to others via phone call. Many act like its a terrifying act. They might even refuse to use phone calls at all. While this has made many antisocial, it has helped the antisocial who needed that confidence to talk to other human beings. They can now text and keep up with the rest of the world and maybe come out of their shell. On the other hand, one of the biggest things that has been cut from our lives is the genuine lovey-duvey moments. Men and women are to scared to ask their lovers out on a date in person. That's one of the best parts! Is being scared but doing it anyway to get the man or woman you love. Well why do it in person anyway? If I have technology then I can just Facebook them or even text, because that is so romantic right? It takes the sincerity out of everything and is less special.

Next green step

The next step of green energy to save the world would be to actually apply the things that we have invented into our daily lives. We have all these ideas, and most of them are already invented. But most people don't use them. So it should be put into our lives to actually do something for the planet.

Green movement

The Green Movement is much deeper and broader than just promoting environmentally friendly products now. Here is more information: Though it may appear to be new, the movement has been around since at least the 1970's and the ideas expressed within the movement appear to have originated in the 1930's or earlier. Today, the Green Movement is world wide and, as with many other groups and movements, may not be what it appears to be on the surface. It is going to help out the planet by replacing things that we will eventually run out of. It will help purify the air of things that we've put in for the past years. It is going to be the new way of thinking in a way that is healthy for the earth.

Hogwarts alive!

There is a new app called aurasma. It is the exact definition of Harry potter moving pictures and newspaper, plus more! I would use this all the time. You can project movies that are 3d in front of you. You can almost touch it. This is the next big step in communication. I'm sure in the future this invention will go so far. Can't wait to see what happens with it.

Future invention

So the ideas from the class are stove 3000 where you ask a stove to make you any food and it does. The eye computer, where your eyes replace the mouse. So wherever you look is where the clicker goes. The millennium computer watch, which projects a computer screen into the air. And the Eco-PAC jet pack. Which is meant to help the environment. These packs would eliminate using gas and the problem of where to put all of our trash. These Eco-PAC's would burn trash and use that energy to power the jet pack. I personally would invest in the Eco-PAC. It's the most environmentally efficient.

I love my iPod (wrap class)

I really love my iPod. I couldn't imagine life without it. It's like a personal friend who is there for every emotion and mood you are in. If I'm kinda upset or angry, I can turn on heavy metal and turn it all the way up. When I'm calm and happy,I play softer, pretty, soft music. I want to cry when I'm listening to a song, and it dies. Thats the worst thing that could happen. Before the iPod people just listened to the radio. That means they couldn't always listen to music whenever they wanted, or to whatever you want. You just listen to what ever is on that station. In the future, iPods will probably continue to get thinner with bigger gigabytes.it would be cool if they could make solar power iPods. So It would rarely die, unless you are a hermit who never leaves the house.or another idea would be to have chips. Little tiny chips you could implant into your hand ( that can always be removed ). You would always have music at your fingertips, without having to hold it in your fingertips.although, it would be really nice to have an iPod that had wireless connection to your earbuds. So you could just out in earbuds and not have to worry about getting the cord in a knot; or the worst problem with headphones,is that you wrap them up so they don't get tangled and the wires start popping out and break. You would need some serious technology to build these things. I don't know what, but maybe one day it will happen.

Senior year so far

Its been awesome. I am so grateful to be in this class. It has provided us with so many opportunities that other students don't have. We have the freedom to do our our projects together like adults not just students. We go to school board meetings and present things to them, we can leave class to accomplish projects, and it just the most amazing way to spend my last year in high school. I wouldn't want it any other way.

Future Addiction

The new ipads are so great I didn't want to give it up at the end of the day!let alone the end of the year. But they are already making learning do different in a good way. They make so many more opprotunities for us.

WRAP

Yesterday a man from JMU came and talked to us about the South River. We discussed things like what is polluting the river, the different kinds of fish and can you eat them or not. We also discussed about how the dam that was taken down effects the water level and fishing. But I wouldn't do a project on it. I'm more interested in the anamometer than the river.

Pretty Little Liars

Right now I'm reading the second book of the Pretty Little Liars series. i love this series, it might be my favorite so far. I love the mystery and all the secrets that bond the girls together in this book. but if their not careful their secrets could be the death of them. this series is related to the physiology of evil. their is a character named "A". "A" is haunting them with all of the dark secrets of their past and present. they don't know why someone would want to do this to them, and what makes this person so messed up in the head. but is it someone who is insane or wants to get back at them for something? except the book doesn't really relate to my life. i wish it did though. i love reading books where there is something scary and interesting going on in a characters life.

wian class

My most favorit passion is art. Its just the best way of expression. Its appealing to the eye and has personal stories behind it. I'm mostly just proud of what I can do. I never would have thought ibcan create the things I do. I like sports and music, but art will always be at the top of my list. There are just no limitations to what you can do, and no two artworks are the same, just like people.
